Snus

In Sweden, snus has a long tradition. Swedish snus is characterized by the high quality standard in the processing of tobacco. Tobacco production is subject to the same statutory provisions as food production. The tobacco is first air-dried and then pasteurized. In this heating process, the tobacco is cleaned from a variety of pollutants and the amount of nitrosamines is reduced significantly. Finally, the tobacco is mixed with water, salt and flavorings.

Swedish snus is delivered in the form of either loose snus (similar to american dip tobacco) or portion snus (called pouches or pouched snus in the US).

Snus Types

Loose Snus

Loose snus is a moist, finely ground tobacco. The desired quantity is formed using the fingertips into a small ball-shape. Alternatively, you can use a Prismaster, a tool which helps you shape the snus.

Portions Snus

Portions snus comes in sachets made by natural fibre.

Regular Portion Snus

There are the regular portion snus, where the tobacco portions are slightly damp.

White Portion Snus

Then there are so-called white portions where the portions are made a little drier through a specific process which makes them appear white.
